Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Day shift
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and report basic vital signs and observe changes in condition
- Support feeding and toileting needs while promoting dignity and independence
- Document care timely and accurately in the resident record
- Communicate clearly with nurses and the care team about resident needs
- Help create a warm, safe environment that promotes resident well-being
Qualifications
- GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Current state-required documentation and ability to work in Maryland
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but caring attitude is essential
- Reliable, punctual, and able to handle physical aspects of the role
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic patient care principles and elderly care needs
- Strong interpersonal and team communication skills
- Ability to follow care plans and document tasks accurately
- Comfortable with safe patient handling and infection control practices
- Compassion, patience, and a resident-first mindset
