Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem / Variable days, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (Night shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
Assist with safe transfers, bathing, dressing, and grooming with dignity
Support mealtime assistance and document intake as needed
Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
Attend shift handoffs and accurately complete required documentation

Qualifications

Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
Valid state-required training/certification for nursing assistants (Maryland preferred)
CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred; successful completion of a GNA training program required

Knowledge & Skills

Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
Basic knowledge of infection control and resident safety practices
Able to take and record vital signs and observe resident behavior
Good documentation skills and attention to detail
Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans and instructions
Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills with older adults
