Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to residents, including assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting)
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Document care accurately and timely in resident records
• Support meal time assistance and monitor intake as needed
• Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents
• Engage residents with friendly conversation and support social activities to promote quality of life

Qualifications

• Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification - required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar setting helpful
• Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and any facility-required health screenings
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and a resident-centered attitude
• Ability to lift/move residents per facility policy and follow safe handling procedures

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of elder care principles and common geriatric conditions
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
• Basic infection control and hygiene practices
• Accurate documentation and charting skills
• Good observational skills to notice changes in resident status
• Teamwork and collaboration with nursing staff and other caregivers
