Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Take and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
• Document care accurately and timely in resident charts or EHR
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents’ dietary needs are respected
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and families to deliver person-centered care
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control practices

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
• Comfort working with older adults and assisting with mobility/ADLs
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous long-term care or geriatric experience preferred but supportive training available

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Skillful in safe resident transfers and mobility assistance
• Familiarity with vital sign measurement and basic clinical observations
• Accurate charting and documentation habits
• Infection control and standard safety practices
• Good communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
