Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings and prophylaxis for patients
• Collect and document patient medical histories and oral health information
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
• Assist the dentist during procedures and prepare treatment rooms
• Maintain infection control standards and ensure equipment is sterilized

Qualifications

• Current Virginia Dental Hygienist license
• Dental Hygiene certification from an accredited program
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dental team
• Prior experience in a clinical dental setting preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Oral anatomy and periodontal assessment
• Dental radiography and imaging basics
• Infection control protocols and OSHA compliance
• Patient charting and electronic dental record systems
• Time management and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment
