Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental prophylaxis and scaling for patients
• Collect and record accurate patient medical histories and dental charts
• Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
• Take and develop dental radiographs following safety protocols
• Assist the dentist with procedures and ensure a sterile environment
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and adhere to infection‑control standards

Qualifications

• Current Virginia Dental Hygienist license (VDH)
• DPH certification or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of clinical dental hygiene experience
• Strong communication and patient‑education skills
• Ability to work independently during early‑morning hours

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in dental radiography and imaging software
• Knowledge of periodontal disease assessment and treatment planning
• Familiarity with infection control and OSHA regulations
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Comfort with electronic health record (EHR) systems
