Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental prophylaxis and scaling for patients
- Collect and record accurate patient medical histories and dental charts
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
- Take and develop dental radiographs following safety protocols
- Assist the dentist with procedures and ensure a sterile environment
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and adhere to infection‑control standards
Qualifications
- Current Virginia Dental Hygienist license (VDH)
- DPH certification or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of clinical dental hygiene experience
- Strong communication and patient‑education skills
- Ability to work independently during early‑morning hours
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in dental radiography and imaging software
- Knowledge of periodontal disease assessment and treatment planning
- Familiarity with infection control and OSHA regulations
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Comfort with electronic health record (EHR) systems
