CNA - Long Term Care
Location: Seward, AK
Start Date: 04-21-2026
End Date: 10-20-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable schedule (traveler's choice of 4x12 or 3x12). Day shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM. Night shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM. Shifts are either Days or Nights (travelers are not typically asked to rotate between day/night); specific days of week vary by facility schedule.
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and mobility
- Perform safe patient transfers and use transfer equipment such as hoyers and skylifts
- Obtain and accurately record vital signs and report changes in patient condition promptly
- Perform glucose point-of-care testing and basic monitoring with glucometer and pulse oximetry
- Follow infection control procedures including donning and removing PPE and isolation precautions
- Support pressure injury prevention, skin care, and incontinence care with dignity and respect
- Chart patient care thoroughly in ECS and communicate with the interdisciplinary team to support positive outcomes
Qualifications
- Active CNA license — Alaska CNA license can be pending if the application has already been submitted with documentation
- If AK CNA is pending: valid CNA license in another state and verification of completion of a formal CNA training program (certificate or transcript)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of LTC or skilled nursing experience; previous travel experience is required (first-timers not accepted)
- Comfort caring for geriatrics, dementia, Alzheimer's, and TBI patients and working with a 1:20 ratio on days
- Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs and to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays as requested
Education
- Completion of a formal CNA training program (certificate or transcript required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of activities of daily living support and safe patient handling
- Proficient in obtaining and interpreting vital signs (BP, pulse, respirations, temperature) and orthostatic checks
- Experience with glucometer testing, pulse oximetry, and oxygen tank handling
- Pressure injury prevention and basic wound observation
- Infection control best practices and isolation precautions
- Accurate charting in ECS and clear reporting of patient changes to the care team
