Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and electronic records
• Support therapeutic activities and social engagement to promote quality of life
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
• Respond calmly in emergencies and follow facility policies and escalation procedures

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• BLS/CPR certification required or ability to obtain upon hire
• State certification or eligibility to work as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant in Maryland
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and drug screening
• Comfortable working overnight hours and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is preferred

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on resident care and safe transfer/ambulation techniques
• Familiarity with basic vital sign measurement and monitoring
• Strong verbal and written communication for clear documentation
• Person-centered care approach with empathy for older adults
• Basic infection prevention and control practices
• Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
