Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled speech-language pathology evaluations and individualized treatment plans for acute care patients
• Perform dysphagia and swallowing assessments and implement appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety
• Document thoroughly and timely in Cerner to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PT/OT, and family members to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and caregivers on communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and discharge plans
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute clinical expertise to care planning

Qualifications

• Active California state SLP license (required)
• Active BLS certification (required)
• COVID-19 vaccination (required)
• Minimum 2 years experience in an acute care setting
• Experience with Cerner charting system (preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment skills in dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent (typical requirement for SLP licensure)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven knowledge of acute care speech-language pathology best practices
• Skilled in bedside swallowing assessments and management
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic charting (Cerner)
• Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team
