Respiratory Therapist - NICU/PICU
Location: San Antonio, TX

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating shifts (day and night coverage), 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM; includes weekend coverage with at least 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and titrate ventilators, including advanced modes such as NAVA on Servo U and Avea ventilators
- Provide neonatal and pediatric respiratory support in Level 3/Level 4 NICU and PICU settings
- Perform BiPAP, HFNC, nebulizer therapy, airway clearance and bronch assist procedures with excellent clinical judgment
- Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases (ABG) and adjust therapy accordingly
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in Meditech and communicate changes to the multidisciplinary team
- Deliver compassionate, family-centered care while maintaining safety and infection control standards
- Participate in unit float assignments when needed, including voluntary adult unit coverage
- Serve as a collaborative team member, mentoring others and contributing to positive unit culture
Qualifications
- CRT or RRT (required)
- Texas RCP license (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
- Minimum pediatric ICU or Level 3/Level 4 NICU experience (6 months to 1 year; job notes 1 year)
- Comfort with floating to adult areas when voluntary coverage is needed
- Team player with strong communication skills and flexibility for a travel assignment
Knowledge & Skills
- Respiratory therapy fundamentals and pediatric respiratory care
- Ventilator management and advanced ventilator modes (Servo U, Avea, NAVA)
- Noninvasive ventilation: BiPAP and V60
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and Blender HFNC operation
- Airway clearance techniques: Vest CPT, Percussor CPT, MetaNeb, Cough Assist, Redbox IPV
- Nebulizer therapy and bronch assist procedures
- ABG analysis and clinical interpretation
- Electronic medical record documentation in Meditech
