Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and provide clear, actionable treatment recommendations
- Deliver individual and group psychotherapy tailored to the psychiatric program population
- Perform risk and safety assessments and implement appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with custody, medical, and behavioral health staff to coordinate care plans
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews
- Support program goals through evidence-based treatment approaches and program development
- Provide clinical supervision/mentoring when applicable and participate in staff training
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) required or equivalent as per employer policy
- Active California Psychologist license or eligibility to obtain licensure in California
- Experience in psychiatric programs, forensic settings, or correctional mental health preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills with demonstrated experience in psychotherapy
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements
- Current BLS/CPR preferred or willingness to obtain if required by facility
Education
- Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of evidence-based psychotherapies and psychiatric assessment
- Skilled in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and de-escalation techniques
- Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team and a correctional/forensic environment
- Excellent clinical documentation and case formulation skills
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and population-specific interventions
- Strong communication skills with patients and institutional staff
