Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients’ respiratory status and respond quickly to changes
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway care with precision and confidence
• Administer respiratory therapies and aerosol treatments safely and effectively
• Perform arterial blood gas collection and interpretation to guide care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team on care plans
• Document interventions and patient response clearly in the medical record
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure patient safety
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist credentials/qualification (RT) and strong hands-on experience
• Eligible for or holding state licensure in Ohio (must meet state requirements)
• NBRC credential (RRT or CRT) preferred
• BLS required; ACLS or PALS highly desirable
• Comfortable with ventilator management, airway maintenance, and acute care settings
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team-focused environment

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Airway management, suctioning, and secretion clearance techniques
• Aerosolized medication delivery and oxygen therapy
• Familiarity with acute care protocols and infection control practices
• Accurate EMR documentation and care coordination
• Patient education and family-centered communication
