Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care on a high-acuity surgery trauma unit
- Manage a diverse patient population including surgical, gunshot, and spinal cord injury patients
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nursing support techs and phlebotomists
- Perform thorough nurse handoffs with ED and admitting unit
- Maintain a 5:1 patient ratio ensuring focused, quality care
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in trauma or surgical nursing
- Active BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Willingness to work flexible night shifts without block scheduling
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for high-acuity trauma patients
- Experience with surgical wound care, monitoring, and emergency interventions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
