Shift Type: 36-hour guarantee, every other weekend, no on-call (specific shift start/end times not listed)

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria to ensure individualized treatment
  • Provide expert post-operative open heart care, including chest tube and drain management, and assist with chest tube and pericardial pacing wire removal
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognizing and responding quickly to changes in patient status
  • Deliver pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access, managing temporary pacemakers and non-invasive ventilation devices
  • Collaborate with and supervise LPNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries to coordinate comprehensive care
  • Float to all units within skill level to support the care team wherever needed

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of nursing experience, including post-operative open heart care
  • Critical care experience highly preferred
  • Experience with chest tube and drain management, radial and femoral access procedures, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Proficiency with chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire removal, temporary pacer management, and non-invasive ventilation devices
  • Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Active Ohio or Compact RN License

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities
  • Comfortable with chest tubes, drains, and temporary pacing devices
  • Skilled in non-invasive ventilation, high-flow oxygen, and oxygen delivery systems
  • Ability to float across units within skill level
  • Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
