Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, every other weekend, self-scheduling

Hours per Week: 48

Candidate Pay Rate: $66 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult oncology and trauma PCU patients
  • Administer chemotherapy medications and manage titratable drips like Insulin, Cardizem, and Heparin
  • Monitor patients closely on a 1:4-1:5 ratio and respond quickly to changes
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, case managers, therapists, and dietitians
  • Perform hourly rounding and bedside shift reports to ensure seamless patient care
  • Float to other Med/Surg and PCU units as needed, maintaining the same level of care

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of PCU or Med/Surg experience; Oncology experience preferred
  • Comfortable titrating drips and managing high-flow oxygen
  • Experience with Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for PCU patients
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy administration (preferred but not required)
  • Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and high-flow oxygen therapy
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills
  • Adaptability to float between units
