Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery care including assessment, triage, and management of obstetrical patients
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart rate patterns to support safe deliveries
• Initiate and maintain IV access and manage infusion pumps, drips, and IV therapy
• Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR assessment and immediate newborn care
• Assist and circulate during cesarean sections and provide postoperative recovery nursing
• Deliver postpartum care including wound assessment, episiotomy care, Foley management, and lactation support
• Recognize and respond to emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage and eclampsia with timely interventions
• Chart accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and safety of patient care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including rapid response, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and transport services
• Float to related units within the OSU system when needed to meet patient care demands

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• NCC C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN Advanced
• Epic charting experience required
• Proven skill in IV start and IV therapy
• Ability and willingness to float to other units within the OSU organization
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Active RN license in the state of Ohio (or compact RN licensure) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• External and internal fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart patterns
• Neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• IV therapy, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), and blood product administration
• Use of IUPC and spiral electrode placement
• Assisting in surgical cases including C-sections and tubal ligations
• Postpartum assessment including fundus, lochia, perineal care, and lactation support
• Proficient Epic documentation and electronic charting workflows
