Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to labor and delivery and postpartum patients across 7 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, and 27 postpartum beds
• Circulate for cesarean sections in two dedicated C-section suites with recovery
• Utilize fetal monitoring systems (AWOHNN intermediate/advanced) and Cerner EMR to track patient progress
• Care for high-risk pregnancies, including substance abuse, no prenatal care, and Spanish-speaking patient populations
• Float to NICU to support grower/feeders, and collaborate with OB techs, respiratory therapy, and charge nurses
• Perform assessments, administer medications, and assist with deliveries in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to AWOHNN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of recent Labor and Delivery/Postpartum experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications are required
• Fetal monitoring certification (AWOHNN intermediate or advanced) is required
• Ability to circulate for C-sections (no scrubbing required)
• Prior travel contract experience is preferred
• Stable certification is a plus
• Must be comfortable floating between L&D, postpartum, and NICU as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert knowledge of labor and delivery nursing, postpartum care, and high-risk obstetrics
• Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation using FetalLink and Cerner
• Strong communication skills, including ability to work with Spanish-speaking patients
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team with OB techs, charge nurses, and physicians
• Adaptability to floating across units and handling diverse patient cases
