Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to patients and families
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote continuity of care and optimal outcomes
• Perform thorough patient assessments and exercise critical thinking to guide nursing interventions
• Direct and coordinate support staff in the provision of safe patient care
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, families, and team members
• Document care accurately using basic computer systems and facility charting tools
• Support age-specific patient populations according to unit standards and protocols

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Iowa in good standing with the Board of Nursing
• Graduate of an accredited RN program (BSN preferred)
• Current AHA BLS required (new hires certify within 3 months)
• Current ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications (obtain per employer policy if new)
• Strong critical thinking, technical nursing judgment, and patient assessment skills
• Excellent verbal communication and empathetic listening skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team and direct support staff
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication

Education

• Graduate of an accredited RN program
• BSN preferred
