Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform ERCP and advanced endoscopic procedures with high-quality technical skill (ERCP is required)
• Deliver endoscopy coverage for both outpatient and inpatient scopes (approximately 18 outpatients / 20 inpatient scopes per day)
• Manage consults and coordinate inpatient care during the 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM coverage window
• Document clinical encounters and procedures accurately in the Cerner EMR
• Collaborate closely with onsite support staff—including physicians, APPs, nursing, lab and radiology—to ensure seamless patient care
• Participate in weekend on-call coverage and provide timely clinical decision-making for urgent issues
• Contribute to a positive patient experience by communicating clearly, compassionately, and professionally

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed Gastroenterology fellowship
• Active or eligible Michigan medical license (able to obtain state license prior to start)
• ERCP procedural competence — ERCP is required for this role
• Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Comfortable working in a hospital-based endoscopy suite and managing inpatient consults
• Effective communicator and team player who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• MD or DO (Gastroenterology fellowship completed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced endoscopic techniques and ERCP procedural skills
• Experience with endoscopy workflow, sedation practices, and inpatient/outpatient case management
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and order entry
• Strong clinical judgment for managing acute GI issues
• Ability to lead and work within a team of physicians, APPs, nursing, and ancillary services
• Good time management to handle a high-volume procedural day and consult responsibilities
