Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection accurately and compassionately for inpatient acute care patients
• Prepare and label specimens according to protocol to ensure proper testing and tracking
• Assist clinical laboratory staff with basic lab tasks and processing as needed
• Interact with patients professionally, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and safety
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and chain-of-custody procedures to protect patients and specimen integrity
• Communicate effectively with nursing and lab teams to coordinate timely specimen collection and transport

Qualifications

• CA Phlebotomist (CPT I) License required
• Clinical lab assistant or phlebotomy experience in an inpatient acute care setting preferred
• Ability to work varied 8-hour shifts, including every other weekend and occasional off-hours
• Strong patient interaction skills and attention to detail
• Basic familiarity with specimen handling and lab safety procedures

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in venipuncture and specimen collection techniques
• Knowledge of specimen labeling, handling, and transport best practices
• Familiarity with inpatient acute care workflows and patient safety practices
• Good verbal communication and teamwork skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and following protocols
