Location: Seward, AK

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable 12-hour shifts (traveler's choice): 4x12 or 3x12 options. Day shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM; Night shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM. Shifts will be either Days or Nights depending on facility needs (no routine day/night rotation). Schedule days vary by facility; guaranteed 60 hours per 2 weeks with possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift per pay period.

Candidate Pay Rate: $43 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately to long term care residents
- Monitor and document vital signs, changes in condition, and communicate status to RN or MD
- Provide feeding tube (NG/G-tube) care and enteral feeding management
- Perform Foley catheter insertions and genitourinary care within scope of practice
- Conduct phlebotomy/lab draws and accuchecks/glucose monitoring as needed
- Deliver respiratory treatments and oxygen administration per resident needs
- Apply infection control and isolation precautions to protect residents and staff
- Assist with admissions, ambulation, bathing, mouth care, and activities of daily living
- Chart accurately in ECS and maintain clear communication with the interdisciplinary team
- Float within scope to meet facility needs and support overall patient care
Qualifications
- Active Alaska LVN/LPN license in hand required; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of LTC experience; prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required
- Able to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- Willingness to work at least two of the three major winter holidays during a 26-week contract
- If using facility rental vehicle, provide valid driver license and proof of insurance at contract signing
Education
- Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN) - active Alaska license required
- Vocational nursing diploma or equivalent clinical training
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration across routes: oral, IM, SQ, ear/eye drops
- Feeding tube care and management (NG and G-tube)
- Foley catheter insertion and genitourinary care
- Phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring, including implanted glucose sensors
- Respiratory care: nebulizers, nasal cannula, oxygen delivery
- Wound care and use of lifts and other assistive equipment
- Charting in ECS and clear clinical communication with RN/MD
- Infection control, PPE use, and resident safety practices
