CNA - Long Term Care
Location: Seward, AK

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable (traveler's choice): 4x12 or 3x12 schedules. Day shift 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM (4x12 or 3x12 option) or Night shift 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM (4x12 or 3x12 option). Shifts are assigned as Days or Nights at start (caregivers are not typically asked to rotate between day/night; occasional urgent exceptions may occur).
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care and assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
- Obtain and record vital signs accurately (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature) and report changes promptly
- Perform glucose point-of-care testing and document results per facility protocol
- Use pulse oximetry and administer/monitor oxygen therapy as required by care plans
- Safely move and transfer patients using proper equipment (Skylift, Hoyer lift) and body mechanics
- Chart thoroughly in ECS; maintain clear, accurate documentation of patient status and interventions
- Observe, recognize, and report changes in patient condition to the clinical team in a timely manner
- Follow infection control practices and don/remove PPE appropriately to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification — Alaska CNA application must have been submitted prior to application; pending AK CNA accepted with required documentation
- Valid CNA license from another state required if AK license is pending
- Completion of a formal CNA training program (certificate or transcript required if AK license pending)
- BLS certification required
- Previous travel experience required (first-timers not accepted)
- Minimum LTC/CNA experience required (job references indicate 0.5–1 year of clinical experience in long term care or similar settings)
- Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility (locals not accepted)
Education
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program (certificate or transcript required)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of LTC care for adult and geriatric populations, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care
- Proficiency with activities of daily living, pressure injury prevention, and incontinence care
- Skilled in safe patient transfers and use of mechanical lifts (Hoyer, Skylift)
- Competent with vital signs, orthostatic measurements, pulse oximetry, and glucometer use
- Familiar with infection control practices, isolation precautions, and PPE donning/removal
- Excellent reporting and communication skills for change-of-condition handoffs
- Charting experience in ECS or similar electronic charting systems
- Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams and following established care plans
