Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Support nursing staff by taking vital signs, observing changes, and reporting concerns
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility to promote resident independence
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident condition
- Help create a comfortable, dignified environment and build rapport with residents
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification valid in Connecticut
- Comfortable providing hands-on patient care with empathy and respect
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well on a care team
- Willingness to complete facility-required screenings and orientation
- Previous long-term care experience is a plus but not always required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic patient care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Skill in taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Ability to follow care plans and document observations
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Awareness of infection control and patient safety practices
