Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders for residents in a skilled nursing facility
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that promote functional communication and safe swallowing
  • Document progress notes, treatment outcomes, and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
  • Provide education and training to staff, families, and caregivers on communication strategies and dysphagia management

Qualifications

  • Current state licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a skilled nursing or long‑term care setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

  • Evaluation of speech, language, voice, and swallowing function
  • Design of evidence‑based therapy interventions
  • Regulatory documentation and compliance for SNF environments
  • Patient‑centered communication techniques
  • Use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools
