Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients in the ICU
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support modalities consistent with unit protocols
• Perform assessments, interventions and monitoring to optimize patient respiratory status
• Document all patient care accurately and promptly in Epic
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and multidisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Float between like units as needed to meet facility needs and maintain continuity of care
• Cover required night, weekend and holiday shifts and adhere to department call/makeup policies
• Follow facility infection control, safety and documentation standards in a Level III trauma/teaching environment

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Minimum of 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (per job posting)
• Comfortable and experienced working with both adult and pediatric ICU patients
• Experience or familiarity with Epic charting is required
• Willingness to work nights, every-other-weekend and observed holidays as scheduled
• Must hold active licensure; pending licenses are not accepted for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Respiratory therapy fundamentals and critical care practices
• ICU-level experience including management of critically ill adults and children
• Pediatric respiratory care competency and comfort treating pediatric patients
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record for documentation and orders
• Ability to float between similar units and adapt to varying unit workflows
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
