Shift Type: Variable shifts (8, 10, or 12 hours) including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call 0-3 times per month (8-hour night and 24-hour weekends/holidays).

Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery stages
• Monitor patients closely after surgery, assessing incision sites, vital signs, and anesthesia recovery
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Utilize critical thinking skills to detect and manage post-operative complications
• Administer medications and manage pain control using PCA pumps and other equipment
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting (PACU experience preferred)
• Valid RN license in the state of Hawaii (or ability to obtain upon acceptance)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• PALS certification preferred
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in PACU nursing and critical care principles
• Strong knowledge of anesthesiology and post-operative recovery processes
• Experience with patient monitoring systems (HP, Phillips) and IV pumps
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Meditech and Point Click
• Excellent assessment skills for incision sites and vital signs
• Ability to think critically and act quickly in fast-paced environments
