Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure sterile technique for every procedure
• Assist surgical teams during procedures, anticipating instrument and supply needs
• Perform thorough patient assessments pre- and post-operatively to promote safety
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to deliver seamless care
• Document perioperative care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Maintain strict infection control standards and advocate for patient safety
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and contribute ideas to improve workflow

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN with ability to practice in LA)
• BLS required; ACLS or other advanced certifications preferred when applicable
• Prior Operating Room nursing experience preferred; new grads with strong periop training are encouraged to apply
• CNOR certification is a plus
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical team
• Ability to stand for extended periods and manage physical demands of the OR

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Familiarity with perioperative assessment and patient safety protocols
• Experience with intraoperative monitoring and assisting with anesthesia care
• Comfortable using electronic medical records for documentation
• Teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
