Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, Night focus: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (typical 3x12-hour nights per week). Note: 12D/N rotating contract — you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination depending on departmental needs; assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Weekends vary based on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-acuity Med Surg telemetry and oncology nursing care at the bedside
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to initiate timely interventions
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams to stabilize patients in crisis
• Administer and monitor therapies including IV therapy, blood products and port access
• Follow infection prevention protocols and fall-prevention strategies to keep patients safe
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory, PT, pharmacy, social services) for coordinated care
• Document care accurately in Epic to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Support patient and family education for complex oncology and post-surgical needs

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Med Surg Tele (or higher) within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required
• Travel experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Experience with Epic charting (required)
• Comfort with typical patient ratios: PCU ~1:3 (can be 1:4 with mixed acuity); Med/Surg Tele ideally 1:4 (can be 1:5)
• Ability to float across MedSurg and PCU oncology units (BMT, acute leukemia, hematology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring (preferred if certified)
• Management of cardiac drips (no titration), PCA, heparin protocols
• High acuity oncology care (BMT, leukemias, hematology, complex surgical oncology)
• Respiratory support skills: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, chest tube management
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and PPE best practices
• Rapid Response/Code team participation and emergency response
