Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for oncology and blood cancer patients
• Administer medications, IV therapy and blood products safely and accurately
• Monitor patients on telemetry and respond to changes in condition with decisive action
• Use Meditech to document care, communicate with the interdisciplinary team, and coordinate discharge planning
• Operate and troubleshoot Alaris infusion pumps and PCA devices as needed
• Support and assist with procedures performed on the unit (lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy, thoracentesis) per unit policy
• Adhere to chemo/biotherapy safety protocols and handle hazardous-drug-related excreta according to training and certification
• Educate patients and families about treatments, symptom management, and follow-up care

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — current, active licensure required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; oncology/hematology experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable and compassionate working with chronic and acutely ill oncology patients
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced specialty unit
• Preferred: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (if not certified, unit education is provided for handling excreta; chemo administration requires certification)
• Experience with telemetry, IV therapy, blood product administration, and Alaris pump use is a plus

• Alaris infusion pump operation and troubleshooting
