Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality oncology nursing care to medical/surgical and oncology patients on a 24-bed unit
• Administer treatments and medications safely, following chemotherapy and oncology protocols when applicable
• Monitor patient status continuously and respond to changes, including emergency interventions as needed
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR to ensure seamless team communication
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including CNAs, HUCs, and physicians to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, symptom management, and discharge plans
• Support unit workflow by participating in handoffs, unit processes, and occasional floating to other med-surg units

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state license or compact where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, with oncology nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Chemo certification preferred (candidates with Chemo Certification will be considered first)
• Ability to work rotating night shifts and the required weekend schedule
• Comfortable working with standard med-surg equipment and caring for patient ratios approximately 1:4 or 1:5

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Strong knowledge of oncology nursing practices, infusion safety, and symptom management
• Skilled in patient assessment, post-procedure care (e.g., thoracentesis monitoring), and basic pelvic exam support
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for a collaborative unit environment
• Ability to prioritize care in a busy inpatient oncology/women's surgical unit
