Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to both adult and pediatric patients on a fast-paced Med Surg/Peds unit
• Monitor patients with conditions such as UTIs, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD
• Administer medications, electrolytes, and IV therapies as ordered, including hypertensive medications and diuretics
• Apply and monitor telemetry, reading strips and collaborating with ICU monitors for patient safety
• Document accurately in MEDITECH and communicate effectively with the care team
• Float to the ED or ICU for 1:1 patient assignments when needed
• Educate patients and families while promoting a collaborative, team-based environment

Qualifications

• Current RN license required to submit
• Minimum 1 year of recent MedSurg and/or Pediatrics experience
• Current BLS and PALS certifications
• Comfort with MEDITECH charting system
• Ability to pass facility fit testing, including meeting facial hair requirements
• Must meet the 50-mile radius rule and not be employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility
• Willingness to float to ED/ICU as needed and work rotating shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills for diverse adult and pediatric patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork - we encourage asking questions!
• Ability to manage telemetry monitoring and recognize rhythm changes
• Time management and adaptability in a 17-bed inpatient/observation unit
• Patient education skills that help families feel supported
