Registered Nurse - Long Term Care
Location: Seward, AK
Start Date: 04-28-2026
End Date: 10-27-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable 12-hour schedule (traveler's choice of 4x12 or 3x12). Day shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM; Night shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM. Shifts will be either Days or Nights (non-rotating except for occasional urgent staffing needs); days of week vary based on facility needs.
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to long-term care residents, including adults and geriatrics with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other LTC diagnoses
- Administer medications, IV therapy and peripheral line care safely and accurately
- Perform assessments and chart comprehensively in the ECS charting system
- Deliver specialized care such as G-tube feedings, peritoneal (subcutaneous) dialysis care, wound care and respiratory treatments
- Monitor and manage glucose via accuchecks and implanted glucose sensors, and complete EKGs and pacemaker transmitter checks as needed
- Safely assist with patient mobility using lifts and established protocols
- Float within clinical scope to meet facility needs and collaborate with social services and interdisciplinary team members
- Adhere to isolation precautions and proper PPE practices to maintain a safe care environment
Qualifications
- Active Alaska RN license in hand (required) — pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience; demonstrated LTC experience required
- Previous travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- BLS certification required prior to start
- Comfort and competency with a 1:20 patient ratio
- Ability to float within scope and adapt to facility needs
- Willingness to work required holiday coverage and follow RTO policy (submit RTO with submittal)
- If utilizing the facility-provided vehicle: valid driver’s license and proof of personal insurance required at contract signing
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of long-term care practices and geriatrics (dementia, Alzheimer’s, TBI, cognitive and physical impairments)
- Proficiency with ECS charting system and accurate documentation
- Skill in IV therapy, oxygen administration, peripheral line care and medication administration
- Experience with phlebotomy, wound care, G-tube feedings and Duopa pump management
- Comfort delivering respiratory treatments (nebulizers) and basic ventilatory support tasks appropriate to LTC
- Familiarity with vital sign machines, glucose monitors, EKGs and pacemaker transmitter use
- Strong safety practices including isolation precautions and safe patient handling
