Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations with care and attention to detail
• Conduct Separation Health Assessments for transitioning service members
• Lead interview-based clinical evaluations to capture clear, veteran-centered histories
• Carry out focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Document findings thoroughly and complete required reports, addendums, and medical opinions in a timely manner
• Adhere to non-treatment exam protocols — no prescribing or treatment provided as part of these encounters
• Collaborate with credentialing and administrative teams to maintain compliance and readiness for assignments

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state where you will practice
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine experience
• Experience or comfort performing interview-based evaluations and basic physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength)
• Ability to complete thorough documentation, addendums, and medical opinions as required
• Willingness to work per diem/PRN assignments and be available within a 50-mile radius of listed locations
• Successful completion of VES credentialing and onboarding prior to patient encounters

Education

• Nurse Practitioner (NP) credential with active state licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical interviewing and history-taking skills
• Proficiency in basic musculoskeletal assessment: range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Ability to read and interpret diagnostic information and incorporate into exam reports
• Excellent clinical documentation and report-writing skills
• Comfort with one-time, non-treatment exam workflows and administrative follow-up (addendums, medical opinions)
• Time management and the ability to complete required exam-related paperwork promptly
