Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (per diem schedule; specific days vary)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
Assist with mobility, transfers and safe patient handling to promote dignity and safety
Support mealtime assistance and monitor nutritional intake as directed
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
Follow infection control, safety protocols and facility policies at all times
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

GNA certification (required)
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Comfortable working nights and providing care for older adults
Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Basic resident care and assistance with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting)
Taking and reporting vital signs accurately
Safe transfer and positioning techniques
Familiarity with charting/documentation and following care plans
Understanding of infection prevention and resident safety practices
Teamwork and effective communication with nursing staff and families
