Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services to residents in a skilled nursing facility, helping them regain independence in daily activities
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans to improve fine motor skills, self-care, and mobility
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, physical therapists, and speech therapists
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatments as needed to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and adaptive techniques for a smoother transition home

Qualifications

  • Active California Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license required
  • BLS/BCLS certification required (must be current)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or rehabilitation setting
  • Completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment in skilled nursing preferred but not required
  • Three professional references from most recent employers

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of rehabilitation therapy principles and occupational therapy techniques
  • Proficient in documentation and electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and family education
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment
