Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience
• Monitor hemodynamic and cardiac status and manage conscious sedation per protocol
• Administer and document blood and blood products safely according to facility and regulatory standards
• Perform procedural skills such as starting peripheral IVs and urinary bladder catheterization when indicated
• Maintain strict infection control and adhere to laser and radiation safety procedures in the OR
• Accurately document patient care in Epic and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and ancillary teams for seamless care
• Participate in Universal Protocol (time out) and other safety checks to prevent errors and promote excellence

Qualifications

• Current California RN license (required)
• AHA BLS (required) and PALS (required)
• CNOR preferred but not required
• Minimum 2 years pediatric OR experience (position notes minimum 2 years; 3 years preferred)
• Trauma Level I experience required; Trauma Level II preferred
• Familiarity with Epic charting (required)
• First-time travel nurses welcome
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required per facility policy (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — active CA RN license required
