Roles & Responsibilities

• Process and prepare surgical instruments and trays for safe patient care
• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize instruments following facility protocols
• Maintain meticulous documentation and instrument tracking for traceability
• Collaborate with perioperative teams to ensure timely case turnover
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and report any issues promptly
• Maintain inventory, restock sterile supplies, and communicate supply needs
• Adhere to infection control and safety standards to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous sterile processing or central service experience preferred (ideally 1+ years)
• Sterile processing certification preferred (CRCST or CBSPD)
• Comfort working the 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM evening schedule for the duration of the 13-week contract
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to follow strict protocols
• Basic computer skills for instrument tracking and documentation
• Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; SPD certificate or formal training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of sterilization principles and infection control practices
• Familiarity with decontamination and sterilization equipment and processes
• Skill in inspecting instruments for function and cleanliness
• Good communication and teamwork skills when coordinating with OR staff
• Organizational skills to manage instrument sets and supply levels
• Ability to follow written protocols and maintain accurate records

This is a contract position in Pittsfield, MA, located in the beautiful Berkshires.
