Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality echocardiography studies using established protocols to support accurate diagnoses
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal image acquisition and equipment readiness
• Assess images in real time and communicate findings clearly to interpreting physicians
• Provide compassionate patient care — explain procedures, position patients safely, and monitor comfort
• Document studies and patient information accurately using Cerner charting systems
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and departmental policies to maintain a safe care environment
• Participate in orientation and collaborate with the Allied team to deliver excellent patient outcomes

Qualifications

• RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of sonography experience (echocardiography preferred)
• License to submit required (facility/state licensure as applicable)
• Proven competency with cardiac ultrasound protocols and patient-centered imaging
• Comfortable using Cerner or similar electronic charting systems

Education

• No BSN required
• Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program or equivalent clinical experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of echocardiography techniques and cardiac anatomy
• Proficiency in image optimization and Doppler assessment
• Patient positioning and safe handling techniques for imaging
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Clear communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with physicians and clinical staff
• Attention to detail and ability to produce consistent, high-quality diagnostic images
