Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based critical care to surgical trauma/neuro and medical cardiac ICU patients
• Safely titrate and manage common drips such as vasopressors, sedatives, inotropes, anticoagulants, and insulin
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and monitor strips independently using GE monitors
• Operate and manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support (Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s, Airvo)
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, RTs, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient care plans
• Serve as a charge/resource nurse as assigned (charge nurses do not take patients)
• Participate in unit orientation including a Day 1 sim lab (pass/fail) and validate trauma/neuro specialty skills
• Float to telemetry as needed and support patient flow across sister ICUs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Arizona or compact privilege) required
• Minimum 3 years recent ICU experience to be considered (NO exceptions) with at least two years in the ICU preferred
• Experience in EITHER neuro or cardiovascular (CV) critical care required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• UNA Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (maximum 2 attempts)
• Willingness to complete and pass a Day 1 simulation lab
• Comfort titrating multiple vasoactive and sedative drips and managing complex ventilator settings
• Candidates may NOT have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility in the past year (50-mile radius rule applies)

Education

• Active RN license required
• ADN or BSN required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills specific to Level 1 trauma, neuro, and CV ICU patients
• Proficiency with titratable drips: propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin
• Ventilator management experience (Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840) and noninvasive supports (V60 Bipap, Airvo)
• Rhythm interpretation skills and comfort interpreting telemetry without dedicated monitor techs (GE monitors)
• Familiarity with ECMO, Impella, IABP, CRRT exposures are a plus
• Comfort working in high-acuity, fast-paced Level 1 trauma center environment
