Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care using ASPAN standards to help patients transition safely from surgery
• Perform thorough initial assessments and prioritize care based on patient needs and surgical reports
• Develop and implement individualized care plans focusing on airway management, pain control, and recovery
• Collaborate with physicians, families, and the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient transitions
• Monitor patient progress toward discharge and communicate detailed reports to receiving units
• Maintain emergency supplies and equipment readiness while staying current with professional competencies

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association
• Minimum 2 years of PACU or critical care experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team

Education

• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in post-anesthesia nursing care and patient assessment
• Knowledge of anesthetic agents and post-operative recovery protocols
• Ability to manage pain effectively and maintain patient comfort
• Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication abilities
• Professional demeanor with tact and sensitivity when working with patients and families
