Shift Type: Monday-Friday, rotating day shifts: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM; 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM. Voluntary weekend coverage and on-call opportunities available (rotating day shifts).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across the holding area, operative suite and post-operative setting following AORN standards
• Assess patients and develop individualized plans of care using the nursing process
• Implement and maintain aseptic/sterile technique and ensure a safe sterile field during procedures
• Monitor patients’ physiologic changes and respond promptly to ensure patient safety
• Prepare, verify and maintain necessary supplies and biomedical equipment for surgical procedures
• Document patient interactions, intraoperative events and changes in plan of care accurately and professionally
• Educate patients and families with clear preoperative teaching and post-op instructions
• Maintain competency through ongoing learning, participation in the in-house OR course and staying current on perioperative best practices

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Pennsylvania
• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required; BSN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience required
• Current American Heart Association BLS (Healthcare Provider)
• Current American Heart Association ACLS (Healthcare Provider)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Willingness to begin the Mount Nittany in‑house 6-month Operating Room course upon hire if not already OR-trained

Education

• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices and AORN standards
• Patient assessment and use of the nursing process
• Aseptic and sterile technique and maintenance of sterile fields
• Perioperative patient care across the lifespan (pediatric to geriatric)
• Documentation and clinical record-keeping
• Preoperative teaching and patient/family education
• Familiarity with biomedical equipment used in the OR
• Teamwork, leadership, and strong professional communication
