Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms continuously and intervene promptly when abnormalities arise
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, working closely with the code/rapid response teams
• Provide high-quality MS/Telemetry care for adult and geriatric patients with orthopedic and neurosurgical diagnoses
• Perform and manage vascular access including IV starts, PICC and central line care
• Administer and monitor blood products and titrate heparin protocols as ordered
• Manage respiratory supports such as BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, oxygen devices and chest tube care
• Care for feeding tubes, wound vacs, drains and other specialty equipment with attention to safety
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity of care and accurate handoffs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, phlebotomy and social services

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS (NIH) required
• Minimum telemetry experience required (1 year minimum; MS/Tele experience preferred, 2 years noted)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response
• Able to work night shifts and meet the every-other-weekend requirement
• Travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac monitoring expertise
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Proficiency with Epic charting and electronic documentation
• IV therapy, PICC and central/peripheral line management
• Blood product administration and heparin protocol familiarity
• Wound care, wound vac experience and surgical drain management
• Respiratory device management including BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC
• Rapid response/code team participation and emergency response skills
• Care of neurosurgical and orthopedic patients, including chest tubes and traction
