Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Lufkin, Texas
Start Date: 07-13-2026
End Date: 10-12-2026
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: 12-hour night shifts (18:00-07:00), every other weekend and holidays required, schedule set by manager
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor telemetry strips and interpret cardiac rhythms for 24-bed med/surg tele unit
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, and other medical conditions
- Administer medications, titrate drips as needed, and collaborate with charge nurse and house supervisor
- Coordinate with patient care technicians (PCTs) and respiratory therapists for CPAP/BiPAP/high flow patients
- Float to all med/surg units as needed to support the team
- Document patient progress and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
- BLS certification required (AHA preferred)
- Experience in med/surg telemetry and ability to read telemetry strips
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Ability to work every other weekend and holidays
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Patient assessment and care planning
- Medication administration and drip titration (if applicable)
- Time management and prioritization
- Collaborative teamwork with charge nurses, educators, and support staff
