Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and complete thorough nursing assessments, documenting clearly and promptly
• Develop individualized plans of care based on each patient
  s assessment and clinical needs
• Implement nursing interventions and treatments according to established policies and the care plan
• Evaluate patient responses and update care plans to ensure continuous, high-quality care
• Supervise and delegate aspects of patient care to unit staff, ensuring safe, effective teamwork
• Provide leadership on the unit under the Med-Surg Nurse Manager and accept responsibility for direction of co-workers
• Communicate with interdisciplinary teams and families to coordinate patient-centered care
• Perform other assigned duties to support unit operations and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (LARA and/or Nursys must show Active Michigan/MI license)
• Minimum 2+ years of recent Med-Surg experience (required)
• Med-Surg Observation experience (required)
• Active American Heart Association BLS (AHA) certification (required)
• Recent travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years
• Current skills checklist (within 1 year) pertinent to Med-Surg specialty

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong command of the Nursing Process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Skilled in patient assessment and clinical documentation
• Care planning and implementation for medical and surgical patients, including oncology, obstetrics and hospice exposure
• Delegation and supervision of unit staff with clear communication
• Ability to evaluate patient response and adjust care plans accordingly
• Comfort working in a fast-paced 1:4/5 target to 1:7 patient ratio environment
