Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for MedSurg and Post-OR recovery patients
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and post-operative recovery status
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered, ensuring safe and accurate delivery
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and adjust individualized care plans
• Float to other units as needed within the scope of practice to support hospital operations
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately using EPIC electronic health records
• Educate patients and their families on discharge instructions and ongoing care needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or a compact state
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg nursing experience (new travelers welcomed!)
• Driver's license required to verify residency and distance
• Ability to pass an open-book, skill-based exam during orientation with 90% or higher
• Comfortable with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid foundation in MedSurg nursing and post-operative care
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• Skill in prioritizing care for multiple patients
• Understanding of oncology MedSurg overflow patient needs
• Flexibility to float to different units and adapt quickly
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
