Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting of test results in compliance with regulatory requirements and policies
• Contribute to high-quality patient care by working in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy
• Rotate through day, evening, or night shifts as part of the hospital's 24-hour laboratory coverage
• Maintain accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Collaborate with a dedicated healthcare team to ensure timely and reliable laboratory services

Qualifications

• For Medical Lab Technician: High School Diploma plus at least 60 semester hours including 6 hours chemistry, 6 hours biology, and 12 hours laboratory science, OR completion of an approved military lab training program
• For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical lab science with at least 48 semester hours of science coursework including 12 hours chemistry and 12 hours biology, plus 24 additional hours in related fields
• Certification as MLT or MLS from AMT, ASCP, or equivalent required within 18 months of hire; must be maintained in active status
• MLT: Minimum 6 months clinical lab experience across core areas (chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank)
• MLS: Minimum 1 year clinical lab experience, including rotations in blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, and hematology
• Must maintain continuing education per certifying body

Education

• MLT: High School Diploma plus at least 60 semester hours of specific science coursework
• MLS: Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science with required science credits

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank testing
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in lab procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with CLIA regulations and quality control practices
• Adaptability to rotating shifts and flexible scheduling
