Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults, assisting with activities of daily living
• Support mobility and safe transfers while promoting independence whenever possible
• Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing with dignity
• Monitor resident well-being and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Help create a warm, home-like environment through friendly interactions and meaningful engagement
• Document care activities accurately and follow facility policies and procedures
• Collaborate with the care team to support individualized care plans and positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required or equivalent state credential
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and skilled in assisting with ADLs
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to pass facility-required background checks and health screenings
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (or state equivalent) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
• Basic charting and documentation skills, following facility protocols
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
