Location: Seward, AK

Start Date: 04-21-2026

End Date: 10-20-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Variable 12-hour schedule (traveler's choice of 4x12 or 3x12). Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Shifts will be assigned as either Days or Nights (caregivers are not typically asked to rotate between day/night).

Hours per Week: 60

Candidate Pay Rate: $43 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate direct patient care including medication administration and vital signs monitoring
  • Manage feeding tube (G-tube/PEG) care and enteral feedings per facility protocol
  • Perform Foley catheter care and assist with catheter insertions within scope of practice
  • Deliver respiratory treatments and oxygen administration as needed
  • Administer IV hydration PRN and assist with phlebotomy/lab draws when required
  • Perform wound care and skin integrity assessments for long-term care residents
  • Document patient care accurately in ECS charting and communicate status changes to RN/MD
  • Follow isolation precautions and proper PPE usage to maintain a safe environment
  • Assist with patient admissions, mobility (use of lifts), and activities of daily living support
  • Float within scope to meet facility needs and collaborate with interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

  • Active Alaska LPN/LVN license in hand (required — no pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of LTC (Long Term Care) experience
  • Previous travel experience required (first-timers not accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Comfortable working with a 1:20 patient ratio in a skilled nursing/long-term care setting
  • Willingness to obtain Alaska Food Worker certification during onsite orientation
  • Must have permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required to use facility-provided vehicle

Knowledge & Skills

  • Medication administration across multiple routes (IM, SQ, oral, ear/eye drops)
  • Feeding tube/G-tube management and NG tube experience
  • Foley catheter care and male/female insertion experience
  • Glucose monitoring/Accuchecks and implanted glucose sensor familiarity
  • Wound care, dressing changes, and basic ostomy/PEG care
  • Respiratory skills: nebulizers, nasal cannula, oxygen administration
  • Charting proficiency with ECS and clear patient communication
  • Use of lifts and safe patient handling techniques
  • Comfort with specialty equipment: pacemaker transmitter, EKG, Vital Sign machines
