Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, using therapeutic procedures to restore movement and function
- Implement therapeutic exercises and modalities to reduce pain and improve mobility
- Assist patients with use of assistive devices and train them in safe mobility techniques
- Perform patient assessments and document progress in accordance with the plan of care
- Collaborate closely with the supervising Physical Therapist to follow and adjust treatment plans
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and comply with state practice standards
Qualifications
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
- Valid California License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA)
- Ability to function under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and follow the State Practice Act
- Strong patient care focus and competency with therapeutic modalities and assistive devices
Education
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Therapeutic exercises to improve strength, range of motion, and coordination
- Patient assessment and documentation best practices
- Experience with therapeutic modalities and assistive devices
- Hands-on patient care and implementation of therapist-directed interventions
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and the clinical team
