Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist
- Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board requirements
- Implement physician treatment plans and adjust care per documentation policies
- Assist with department maintenance and keep treatment areas clean and organized
- Train and support restorative aides and nursing staff on maintenance programs
- Participate in patient care and rehabilitation conferences to coordinate care
- Report equipment issues to ensure safe, working therapy environments
- Communicate patient progress and concerns clearly with the care team and families
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of California (must maintain license in good standing)
- Proficient with Casamba and PointClickCare for EMR data entry
- Strong documentation skills including daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes
- Able to provide caregiver training and patient/family education for discharge planning
- Comfortable participating in in-service training programs and team meetings
- Positive interpersonal skills to relate effectively with patients, families, and staff
Education
- Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - state license required
- Completion of an accredited PTA education program and any state continuing education requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care and hands-on rehabilitation therapy skills
- Accurate treatment documentation and EMR proficiency
- Clear clinical communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to follow physician and therapist treatment plans
- Experience with caregiver education and restorative aide training
- Basic equipment maintenance and safe treatment area upkeep
